How to Make Upma Recipe

Make Rava Upma
- When the water comes to a rolling boil, lower the heat to its lowest. After that add the rava in 4 – 5 batches with a spoon.
- As soon as you put the first batch of rava, stir it right away so that the roasted rava mixes well with the water.
- After that, add the next portion of rava. Mix and stir thoroughly to make sure that the Rava is evenly mixed with the water.
- Continue to add rava and stir it up to the last batch.
- Stir quickly and mix very well. The rava grains will absorb water and get cooked.
- Cover it and allow the rava upma to steam for 2 – 3 minutes on low flame.
- Then turn off the heat. The rava is cooked well and the “suji ka upma” is ready.
- Lastly, add about 2 tablespoons of chopped coriander leaves (You can add more coriander leaves if you like.)
- Mix these again.
- Serve upma hot with slices of lemon or a side of lemon pickle or coconut chutney.
You can choose to pour a little bit (about half to one teaspoon) of melted butter on top when serving. If you want, you can also sprinkle some fresh coriander leaves as a decoration.
